Two And A Half Minutes Of Loud And Lairy Punk

Back On A Winner

The Velvet Hands

A new release from The Velvet Hands is guaranteed to set the pulse racing, but Back On A Winner is a double whammy delight as they drop two very different versions of the song over the next couple of weeks.

Stuck in Cornish lockdown, frustrated and desperately missing live gigs the lads turned their focus to writing a string of superb songs gearing up for whatever 2021 brings. It’s no secret that the guys are at their happiest thrashing out their particular brand of indie/ garage rock to frenzied fans, generally posing and strutting their stuff on stage. Basically, they love showing off – they crave an audience and, as dedicated followers of their own super cool fashion, the boys are destined to be picked up by a trendy modelling agency before long. Fashion and music have, after all, always gone hand in hand.

Judging by Back On A Winner, the lack of live appearances has truly inspired their creative juices taking them to a different level altogether. BOAW is pure, lairy punk, a jealous rage against the rich guy who seemingly has it all – the big house, flash car and glamorous wife. The boys have thrown their collective bottled energy into BOAW and created something that would have happily stood alongside the great punk names of the 70’s; if you pogoed along to The Ruts or The Lurkers this will spark memories of a gloriously misspent youth.

Toby, Dan, Louis and Sam have shared the same line ups as Paul Weller and Liam Gallagher; played the Isle of Wight Festival and the Eden Sessions and Back On A Winner will guarantee a raft of other top gigs when we are once again allowed the freedom to party in large numbers. Back On A Winner is TVH as close to their exciting live sound as you could wish for, a fabulously loud and crashing two and a half minute punk noise that cries out to be shared with a real audience.

BOAW will be a huge success for The Velvet Hands, aided and abetted by the recording skills of John Logan at Cornwall’s Cave Studios, produced and mixed by John along with JamXJules.

Back On A Winner is released on 23rd October and will inspire radio stations across the land to include the track in their playlists.
