Psychedelic Furs Reward Fans For Their Patience
Come All Ye Faithful
It’s fair to say that Psychedelic Furs fans have longed for a new release from the band; almost 30 years since they left us with World Outside the wait is finally over with the release of Made of Rain on 31st July. The official release date was halted when Coronavirus stopped the world in its tracks, meanwhile the band have already tempted us with three mouth watering singles and have just dropped another track Come All Ye Faithful.
Close your eyes and it feels as if the Furs never left us, the distinctive vocals of co founder Richard Butler have lost none of their appeal; Richard’s instantly recognisable gravelly tones mesmerise and delight just as they did in the band’s Goth/Punk heyday. The musicianship is pure magic with fellow founder and brother Tim Butler once again killing it with superb bass lines; the rest of the classic Furs’ sound is delivered in style by Mars Williams (Sax), Rich Good (Guitar) Paul Garisto (Drums) and Amanda Kramer (Keys).
Fan worship for the Furs has never diminished with recent massive tours selling out almost immediately; The Cure’s Robert Smith himself requested the Furs as headliners for the prestigious Meltdown at London’s Festival Hall. The Furs are back, reprising their original sound, but as fresh and newly formed as when they first rocked our ears with their self titled 1st album back in 1980. They are the peerless Psychedelic Furs, arty, rich in sound, maintaining a touch of anger and aggression but liberally sprinkled with a melodic ambience. All things being equal the Furs will be back in London next April headlining their rescheduled show at the Royal Albert Hall.
Meantime, there are fabulous Furs' singles to download right now and a brand new album to enjoy on 31st July. Our patience is being rewarded with exciting appetisers and the Furs have proved what we already knew - they are totally worth waiting for.
Buy it, play it, love it.
