From West End Shows to Creating Their Own Company

A Sunday Morning Chat with Laurence Pears and Darren Seed

Jam First Theatre Company

Sitting in a Cornish garden on a warm Sunday morning chatting and laughing with Cornish actors Laurence Pears and Darren Seed – it really doesn’t get much better than that.

Since leaving formal theatre training both Laurence and Darren have been paying the bills with roles on stage, films, television and voiceovers, but Covid stopped everything overnight. Theatres are slowly trying to open their doors, but with enforced socially distanced performances will this prove viable in the long term? The Olivier nominated West End shows that Laurence and Darren were appearing in when Covid hit are now on the back burner as theatre companies and venues play a worrying waiting game. Laurence and Darren have put their down time to good use and created a brand new company Jam First Theatre; ‘Hellish’ premieres this week with outdoor performances in Tregony and Pinetum Gardens. Audience wellbeing is paramount and, following guidance from H&S experts, socially distanced 2 metre ‘halos’ will be in place at both venues.

Listen to our chilled out Sunday morning chat and discover for yourself how fabulously funny and down to earth Laurence and Darren are. Hellish promises to be a great night out for everyone over the age of 16. Don’t forget - it’s always Jam First.
