An Alternative Look At Valentine's Day, Dirty Weekends and Cheese & Pickle Sandwiches At Bedtime

Salon de la Vie Valentine Special

Scary Little Girls

Presented and performed by Rebecca Mordan with Guest Kudzi Chiwawa

If you enjoyed previous Salon de la Vie evenings, you will be pleased to know that Rebecca Mordan is back with Season 3 of these delightful performances.

Last night’s show was a very welcome alternative look at Valentine’s Day; not so much the cosy romantic ideal served up by Hallmark, but the reality of a dirty weekend gone wrong and why a cheese and pickle sandwich is the perfect bedtime companion.

Rebecca opened with a classic song accompanied by her trusty Ukelady, inviting us all to sing along to ‘Be My Baby’ – the invitation being slightly redundant as the online audience needed no encouragement to join in.

Kudzi Chiwawa made a welcome return to the Salon with her reading of a piece by Brixton based performance artist poet Dorothea Smartt where a young lover responds to a break up letter.

SLG are long time fans of Daphne DuMaurier and Rebecca treated us to a DuMaurier short story ‘The Weekend’ where an unlikely couple leave the city for a dirty weekend, but things don’t go according to plan.

Another sing along opportunity presented itself when Rebecca launched into the Goffin and King classic ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’, judging by the chat comments everyone was joining in at home, although our renditions may not have been quite as tuneful as our hostess!

Rebecca closed the Valentine Special with a superbly witty poem by Mandy Cole ‘Go To Bed With A Cheese and Pickle Sandwich’, extolling the virtues of enjoying something deliciously satisfying sans snoring.

Season 3 of Salon de la Vie promises to be as warm, clever and funny as previous seasons. Catch up with last night’s performance and all previous Salons on SLG’s You Tube channel - www.youtube.com/channel/UCQzLsixxJ_dhZ5UOAzdGS7g
